On the way to Kagoshima

I think we are heading over somewhere near the volcano...

We were all so sleepy, we stopped at a Mister Donut and got coffee. Unfortunately, we had to wait for them to actually make the hot coffee. Apparently the Japanese don't drink much hot coffee in the summer. Charles got his iced coffee immediately.

The taxi took us around all day, and the driver was really well informed about the area. He would explain to Hiromi and she would explain to us.

We drove by this and I took a picture

We got to the shrine

That is a real bonsai tree

The shrine was closed for renovations. Bummer.

Here is a mini-shrine.

This is where you wash your hands before you enter the shrine. The water was coming out so slowly that the poor fish looked like he was drooling.

One of the other buildings at the shrine

There is a forest next to the shrine with lots of giant trees.

We stopped at a scenic lookout. You can see the volcano in the distance if you look closely.

See the mist in the picture? This area was covered with hot springs

We stopped at a waterfall

A lovely portrait of Hiromi

Not quite as lovely picture of Charles and Betsy. It was a long day!
